Editorial policy
Open Living Culture aims to make considered, readable accounts of everyday culture. Accuracy matters even when a subject seems small: a detail about an object, custom or ritual can shape the whole story.
Accuracy and context
We check factual statements against suitable information before publication and take care to separate established detail from interpretation. We avoid presenting a personal or limited account as universal. If a claim cannot be supported clearly, we qualify it, omit it or explain what remains uncertain.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for relevance, clarity and reader interest. A commercial relationship does not guarantee coverage or a favourable account, and partners do not choose our conclusions. We do not present promotional claims as independent editorial judgement.
Corrections
If you spot an error, contact us through the Contact page and identify the article and detail. We review correction requests and amend material when warranted. Where a meaningful factual correction is made, we aim to make the change clear to readers.
Partnerships and illustrations
Paid placements and other partner material are labelled so readers can distinguish them from editorial work. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where applicable, they are identified as such. Illustrations are not evidence for factual claims.
Ordinary life deserves a closer look
We notice the gestures, objects and customs that can pass without comment, then ask what they mean and how they came to matter.
